Once upon a time, a very young smobgirl owned a 280ZX and went to a junkyard to get parts.

I went to a pick and pull yard to get an OEM stereo out of a car for my brother’s ‘09 Accent sedan...my first time going to one, and I really enjoyed it! :)

Too bad it wasn’t a Porsche!

I haven’t been to the junkyard in awhile. I don’t think any 5th gen Preludes have been there in months.

So the best junkyards I’ve seen for older vehicles are all in El Paso. There is absolutely zero shortage of space and no real incentive to crush anything that hasn’t been entirely picked clean. Unlike the east coast...and Denver.

I used to be cool when I had a 1978! https://oppositelock.kinja.com/back-when-i-was-cool-1820045221

Basically, the city of El Paso is surrounded by salvage lots. The major “outer” roads (east Montana, Zaragoza, Loop 375) have so much open space that is essentially cheap desert for sale. So as soon as the road sees any traffic, sixteen junkyards open up on those roads.
About twelve years ago, I needed a brake drum for a piece of music. At that time, my school was on the edge of the city. There was a junkyard a half mile down on the same street as the school. Brake drum acquired (Plymouth Neon!) for five bucks and ten minutes missed at work. Only in El Paso.

A 280ZX ...and a prison jumpsuit?

Rescue squad! But yeah.
I still have the jumpsuit.

I don’t think my music students realize that a brake drum is not, in fact, a musical instrument.
We actually had a part written for a propane cylinder when I was in drum corps. We spray painted it gold (because of course).

I love the color of yours! I want another Z car some day.

I can imagine. Do they follow you around like some of the ones here like to do? That always makes me uncomfortable. I’m not trying to steal, I just want to buy some parts!

If you still need some odd Tercel stuff, let me know. I still have... all the things...

I mean, they always follow me around because I think they think I’ll just keel over dead from the vapors the second I pull out any tools. I’m maybe not the best person to ask.

Don’t tempt me. I was trying to figure out just how many Tercels and/or weird small Japanese imports I could fit in a standard garage the other day. Someday that garage will exist.

Well, in the short term let me know if you need anything. If I move at some, I don’t intend on taking much with me...
I have an alternator, a starter motor, freaking HVAC controls and lines, so much shit you wouldn’t believe.

I kept a pair of coveralls from my old job for junkyard excursions, have I used them? Nope.

Right now I know those thing are fine but I’m tempted to just tell you I’ll pay for a box of whatever you plan on getting rid of and store it until it is needed.
You don’t have an OEM radio, do you?
